Portrait of Lord Lowenstein in Venice
Photoshop, ZBrush
June 2009

Hi everyone,
I've always been a fan of old photos, they appear grungy, scratched, poorly detailed but for some reason I'm captured by the appeal they have.
Because the subject of my image is not a human being is kinda odd for us to view an image that our memory has always seen with people portrayed showing a creature instead. It's something like our memory that fights against something that is in front of our eyes right now and tells us that our memory is wrong... it's a bit difficult to explain, hope the image itself could deliver the effect I was looking for
The sculpt is a model I did the last week just for fun, started as a doodling with a sphere, then retopologized inside zb and heavy post worked on Photoshop. The image behind is a photo I take in Venice's Carnival 2009.
Don't know if I will rework it in future, but for now I call it done.
Comments and critiques are always welcome
